Our Mission

Child Adoption Illinois

The Illinois Center for Adoption and Permanency is motivated by the belief that every child deserves a loving family. We take it as our mission to secure and support loving families for children in need of permanent homes.

Our work began in 1971 when our statewide photolisting service launched as a pilot project of the Child Care Association of Illinois. This project published listing books profiling Illinois children who were waiting to be adopted, and found families for many of these children. Ten years later, in 1981, the Adoption Information Center of Illinois was founded to extend and expand the work of the listing service. In 2001, our organization spun off as an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to finding permanent homes for children in foster care through a variety of programs and initiatives. Today, we serve as:

Illinois Center for Adoption & Permanency does not and shall not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, creed, national origin, ancestry, gender, gender identity, gender expression, marital status, unfavorable discharge from military service, order of protection status, sexual orientation, pregnancy, physical or mental handicap/disability, or age. These activities include, but are not limited to, the provision of services to clients. We affirmatively welcome and support all stable, nurturing families, including members of the LGBTQ community, and we strive to be culturally competent in serving all clients.
